REVIEW: Raees

REVIEW: Raees

Directed by:
Rahul Dholakia
Writing Credits:
Rahul Dholakia
Harit Mehta
Niraj Shukla
Ashish Vashi

Stars:
Shah Rukh Khan,
Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Mahira Khan
Zeeshan Ayyub

The Story:

A war between a bootlegger (Shahrukh Khan) selling Alcohol in a state of India which is considered to be a dry state and a police officer (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who has sworn to stop him no matter where he is. The bootlegger has a great business mind and a warrior's courage and a golden heart whereas the police officer is extremely good at his job and is extremely honest. set in the 80s it's a crime drama that will take you on an amazing ride.

GOOD:

  • Shahrukh khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are the gems in the movie. Shahrukh khan as the bootlegger is the heart of the movie. he is at his best. Especially when he is angry, he takes his act to a whole new level when he is angry. There is a scene where he kills his boss, a guy he has shared all his crime journey with and to towards he is very loyal and right before shooting him he has tears in his eyes and thinks about all the times they have shared, that scene will make you wanna cry with Shahrukh khan. Another scene where he gets angry with his wife and later rest his head in her lap and tells her while crying that he is tired, it will melt you down. The action scenes are fantastic. Nawaz as the tough and honest police officer is amazing, he carries out the part effortlessly and with his style of humorous touch. I should mention Zeeshan Ayyub as the side hero was extremely good too, his humor when he himself is serious is awesome.
  • I was expecting a happy ending to the movie considering the fact that it is a Bollywood movie but was surprised and extremely impressed with the climax of the movie. Both  Nawaz and Shahrukh did an awesome job at the scene.
  • If I was to rate the music album of Raees I would probably say that only a couple of songs were good, but after watching the movie I must say the music album so synced and right with every scene and everything happening in the movie that I ended up loving all the songs.
  • A bootlegger with a golden heart was a very enjoyable concept. And Shahrukh khan acted it out so well that you feel for him despite he being the bad guy (technically). there is a scene where Shahrukh khan has to return money to the people of his town and when he returns the money he himself is still at a loss but he is so happy for the people and you would actually feel his happiness and that is the how great the part is acted out.

BAD:

  • There is a chase scene between Shahrukh khan and a bad guy where Shahrukh is seen free running on rooftops and through windows, Although I loved the scene very much, I also felt that they could have done a better job with the vfx and with the whole scene. Maybe,  they shouldn't have used Vfx at all, It would have been an even better scene without vfx, they just had to avoid a few things in it, that's it.

THE FINAL WORD:

Raees is one of Shahrukh khan's best performance in his career. It's a must watch for fans and non-fans alike. do watch it.

REVIEW: Split

REVIEW: Split

Director:   M. Night Shyamalan
Writer:      M. Night Shyamalan
Stars:        James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson & more.

A story of three girls who got kidnapped by a psycho with multiple-personality disorder, who has twenty-three different personalities in his head. the girls have the only hope of one of those personalities saving them.

RATING:

GOOD: 85%
BAD: 15%

GOOD:

  • Just like I mentioned in this movie's trailer analysis, James McAvoy was fantastic in this movie. he is the one who carries the movie through the good parts and the bad. The way he acts out the different personalities is spotless. The main girl in the movie, Anya Taylor-Joy, was stunning in her character.
  • All the great acting in this movie was only possible because of M. Night Shyamalan's great directing. Bravo! man. welcome back to your old form.
  • This movie is creepy, and yes that is a plus point because we were all counting on it to be creepy.

BAD:

  • The only thing I didn't like was the pace of the movie, it was so slow I felt like sleeping. But in all fairness, it was expected from a Shyamalan movie.
  • A lot of people will agree with me about the flashbacks in the movie. The movie would have been even better than it was if it had stayed in the present.

THE FINAL WORD:

Definitely, watch it. it's not for everyone I agree but if you liked Shyamalan's old movies then you would love this one, I surely did.

A Monster Calls - Movie Review

Director: J.A. Bayona

Writers:   Patrick Ness ... (screenplay)

Patrick Ness ... (based on the novel written by)

Siobhan Dowd ... (from an original idea by)
Stars:     Lewis MacDougall, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Liam Neeson | and more

The movie revolves around a kid with a disturbed life especially because of his mother with a terminal disease, who looks for help from a tree monster to cope with his troubles.

GOOD:

  • What I loved about the movie were the stories that the tree (played by Liam Neeson) tells. In his own way, the tree is trying to teach the kid how to deal with life and it really works.
  • Lewis MacDougall the lead actor although a kid is really amazing in his character. I was worried about "a kid" playing the lead role but the movie proved me wrong. another great performance was by Felicity jones, she is so good she would break your heart with her acting.
BAD:

  • I guess I should warn you that it's a little too dark for kids under 13 years of age. other than that I didn't find anything that could be termed as bad.

THE FINAL WORD:

Don't take kids under 13 years with you, but definitely, watch this movie. I enjoyed it and I am sure so would you.

Underworld: Blood Wars - Movie Review

Underworld: Blood Wars - Movie Review

Director: Anna Foerster
Writers: Cory Goodman   (screenplay)
                    Kyle Ward      (story by) and
               Cory Goodman    (story by)
Kevin Grevioux  (based on characters created by) and
Len Wiseman    (based on characters created by) &
Danny McBride  (based on characters created by)
Stars: Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, Tobias Menzies

GOOD:

  • The action of the movie is really cool. actually cooler than what I had expected.
  • I think "Underworld: Blood wars" is better than the previous movies of the franchise but that is because the previous movies were not really any good.

BAD:

  • Like I said the action is cool enough but that is not enough. Nowadays we get so many action movies and being Hollywood they usually have great action and that's why great action is no longer considered a reason for a great movie. and sadly Underworld: blood wars fails to give us anything good other than action.
  • To watch this movie you have to assume that everyone in the world is a vampire. because surprisingly no one knows that there is a war going on. I personally found that really annoying and strange.
  • You have to be familiar with the previous movies because if you are not then it will be really hard for you to catch up. and if you are familiar with the previous movies and you didn't like it then you will be watching the same thing you didn't really like before.
  • Personally, I think they should have stopped after the first underworld movie, we have had about enough of remakes and reboots and sequels.

THE FINAL WORD:

  • Avoid it guys. seriously don't waste your time. I didn't enjoy the movie at all and I watch the bad movies so you don't have to. :-)

Jagga Jasoos | The Official Trailer | Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif

Jagga Jasoos | The Official Trailer | Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif

The much-awaited trailer of the much-awaited movie Jagga Jasoos starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, was dropped on the internet a couple of weeks ago. I just had a chance to see it and decided to tell you guys a few things about the trailer or rather to tell you why Jagga Jasoos looks like a great movie from the trailer.

RANBIR KAPOOR'S ACTING:

Ranbir Kapoor has proved himself time and again and I am sure we have no doubt about his acting skills. the trailer which has a feel of Ranbir's last movie Burfee, promises Ranbir at his best and for me that is the top reason to await the movie greatly.

RANBIR & KATRINA's CHEMISTRY:

Ranbir and Katrina have great chemistry, we have seen them together in movies like Raajneeti and Ajab Prem Ki ghazab kahani. the nerdy Katrina looks great with the goofy Ranbir in the trailer. especially in the scene where Ranbir is trying to kiss Katrina.

ANURAG BASU's DIRECTION:

Anurag Basu is a great director of this age, he has proved it again and again, especially with Barfee also starring Ranbir Kapoor. and now that the duo is back together we can expect great things.

A TYPICAL DISNEY FAIRYTALE:

Who doesn't love a Disney fairytale? with the environment and the animals running around and the beautiful sceneries, we can expect a great Disney fairytale.

PRITAM's MUSIC:

Recently Pritam has given nothing but great music for the movies like Dilwale and the Ae dil hai mushkil. If you remember a contributing factor to the greatness of  Ranbir starer Anurag's barfee was also Pritam's music. all these factors suggest great chances for Jagga Jasoos.

FINAL WORD:

Although not much can be said based on this trailer alone as it doesn't give away the movie's plot or story or what to expect in that aspect. I think it's safe to say that we can expect a great spy thriller, with lots and lots of mysteries. I am looking forward to it.
